The prestigious Dayanand Shiksha Sansthan which has been dedicated to the cause of Education in India laid the foundation of the Dayanand Women’s Training College Dehradun in 1961 at 29 E. C. Road Dehradun. After successful completion of the three academic sessions in 1964, the College got its permanent premise at 06 Curzon Road Dalanwala, Dehradun. Since 1964 till date it is located here.
The institution is dedicated towards providing teacher’s training to young women aspirants. Late Smt. Dhara Rani, wife of (Late) Dr Virendra Swaroop provided patronage to the College until her last breath which helped the institution in its aims of rendering training of young women in becoming efficient teachers. Under the liberal and esteemed leadership of Mr Manvendra Swaroop, Secretary B.O.M., the college is bestowed with guidance and care throughout its smooth functioning.
The College is recognized by the NCTE in the year 2000 (F.No.F-3/UP-32/B.Ed/2000/4300 Date: 24.7.2000) and re- recognized in 2015 (F.No./NRC/NCTE/UP-32/2015/119461 Date: 28Jul2015). The College is presently affiliated to HNB Garhwal Central University, Srinagar Uttarakhand (पत्रांक : .मान्यता /5285 दिनांक 20-10-15). The College has been accorded B+ grade by NAAC in the year 2004 (NAAC/MSS/Cert_A&A/2004/EC-33/136 September 28, 2004).
The College since its inception till date has been a vastly reputed institution providing quality education to the young women, developing them as professionals in the field of education. The College organizes and manages various curricular and co-curricular activities such as seminars, workshops, physical education, yoga, art and craft exhibition, fair, excursions, preparation of teaching aids, quizzes, cultural activities. Inter and intra-College debates, awareness programmes, emphasis on development of teaching skills including communication skills. The College has a conducive learning environment with course curriculum that’s a blend of theoretical and practical knowledge.
For the attainment of its objectives, the institution blends the administrative expertise of the Principal and insights/experiences of its highly competent faculty; working together as catalysts and facilitators of development.
